A woman who lives just down the way from us (who we don't know) did this to our yard on Saturday afternoon. Keep in mind that she did not run a stop sign to do this. She just simply decided that it was not important to drive a reasonable speed on snow/ice while trying to take the turn just before our house. She barreled across the intersection and up onto our snowbank (taking out our stop sign but fortunately not our light post). The STOP portion now faces our house.
Nick saw what had happened and came over to help her get out. The SUV was stuck on the embankment and by spinning her tires in an attempt to get out she compounded the issue. While he is digging, she's talking on her cell phone the whole time occasionally saying things like accidents happen, etc. When he finally gets her dug out (which took some time) she mumbles some version of thank you for his kind deed and took off right away.
She never even considered letting us know what she had done.
Now, I get to call the city to have it fixed. When they tell me that it's not their issue I'll need to call the state (or MNDOT or wherever they send me). Then that group will tell me that they'll be out sometime in August to take care of it. I can already see exactly how it's going to go. My guess is Nick and I will be the ones fixing it sometime after the snow melts.
Thanks lady.

Oooo, this stuff pisses me right off! In my hormonal state I'd probably get her address and send her a nasty letter or possibly call the cops to report the accident. It's illegal to steal those signs so it should be some sort of a crime to wreck them. Right? I think the part that get's me annoyed most is her completly inappropriate behavior when someone was helping her out.
ReplyDeleteShe's a whore.
ReplyDeleteOR perhaps she was so overcome with emotion by Nick's hottness that she couldnt say anything but mumble a Thank you and talk on her phone for fear that she may jump his nubbin? Ever think about that?!
That's probably true. I don't know exactly where she lives though even if I wanted too.Agreed, the worst part of it all is how she treated Nick.
ReplyDeleteYou make some valid points. Nick does have that affect on most, if not all, women.
ReplyDeleteThat's no good. It's amazing how stuff like this is so affected by how folks handle it. If she gets out of her car (but more importantly gets off her phone so she doesn't endanger the dude helping her get out in the first place) and just apologizes or explains what happens, it helps so much. But that little effort (or taking of responsibility) gets ignored so often, and just makes it worse. Hang in there, hopefully the city handles it in a reasonable amount of time, and at least it's confirmation that besides you guys, there is at least one good person on your street who will do the right thing.
ReplyDeletethats the definition of dick move right there.
ReplyDeleteThanks Soop. Everything is fine. We'll see how the city handles it but it will all be fine in the end. It's more humorous then anything. I just was annoyed with how inconsiderate she was towards us (and especially Nick).
ReplyDeleteVery true. But more than anything you just wanted to say dick move didn't you?
ReplyDeleteIn regards to Nick, I've helped push people out of snowbanks and it can be kinda dangerous too. The whole picture of her on her cellphone complaining and not paying attention would have pissed me off and made me nervous in his shoes. Not cool.
