Five reasons why last night's series clinching win by the Celts was so much fun:
1. One of the two NBA teams I cheer for won the title. While I am not a huge fan of pro basketball these days, I watched the Celtics play throughout the playoffs whenever I could.
2. KG and Ray Allen, two of my favorite players, now have a NBA title... and even though Garnett's post game interview was one of the stranger ones I have ever seen, I'm very much enjoyed that he gave some love to 'Sota.
3. The Kobe / MJ comparisons will (or at least should) stop. The Celts owned this series (and Kobe) from game one. Unfortunately, Kobe is a great player...but let's stop doing a disservice to Jordan please.
4. I loved how much the announcers / sportscasters talked about Boston's D. The team that played better defense and better team basketball won this series, not the team with the best individual player.
5. Since 2002, Beantown franchises have won six titles across three different sports. I can tell you that it has been a lot of fun to experience as a fan. At least for the time being, calling Boston "titletown" would be fitting. I hope one day we can do it here in Minnesota as well.
5a. A fabulous Bill Simmons article was written about winning the championship.
